Coming from someone who likes words and has the ability to find pleasure from just opening the dictionary or thesaurus and reading it for relaxation, it is a great dictionary. Furthermore, it's for the person who wants a nice, hefty dictionary that actually has EVERY word that you'd need. I found it a champion for those words that you pass in everyday life and just pinch you to walk over to the shelf to look them up. This dictionary is also very easy to understand, it's authoritative, direct and resolute. Oxford truly does provde the concrete foundation of the english language. Be warned that it is not huge in size--if that matters, but it is FULL of words in a small space with MEDIUM print size that is clear and bold.In short, don't be fooled by its marketing as a paperback, it's CHEEPER than a forty dollar oldie that taxes you your verticle space, and suits people with poor sight.

My favorite go to dictionary to date. I'm not one to buy the latest editions unless I find something lacking in the old ones. So far I haven't come up with words I couldn't find, Oxford gives you good easy to understand definitions and I keep it beside me when I'm reading. I'm a nerdy bookworm and its frustrating when I come to a word I dont know while reading. Many folks today use online search engines and thats good and all, but I like a good old fashioned dictionary nothing beats it and I recommend this one

I can't believe Oxford is even selling this thing! They are supposed to be the best, but they're the worst. No etymologies! No pronunciations! Poor selection of words! I can't even use it. I'm back to using my beat up 1971 Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary. Pathetic.

I liked how the product came in a timely manner. There is a small wrinkle on the cover of the dictionary but other than that I love the product; it has great organization and the shading on the sides is a great way to easily find each letter section.

This was a great buy, Very up to date dcitionary. I'm able to read the print just fine. If your looking for a dictionary for whatever reason, this is a good one that'll get the job done.

Insufficient number of definitions. Quite a few words I looked up weren't even in there. Buy yourself something better.

I had an Oxford English Dictionary from the early 80s. I love the fact that it has the ordinary every day words. Now they have added a section on people.

This dictionary is light weight and it fits in my desk drawer. I like the fact it has a places, people and facts section in the middle. I started using it for my writing as soon as it arrived. I think this book is well worth it.

Harsha Gangadharbatla (Ph.D., University of Texas) is an associate professor and the interim chair of the department of advertising, public relations and media design in the college of media, communication and information at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on new and emerging media, social and economic effects of advertising, and environmental communication. He has authored (or co-authored) over 40 publications including conference proceedings.

Donna Davis earned a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida studying the strength of relationships formed in virtual worlds. Her current research extends to the development of community and interpersonal relationships in virtual environments and other emerging social media with a focus on health and disability communities. Her interests also focus on new media technologies that shape the human condition and change behavior via gamification. Prior to life in academia, she had a successful career of more than 25 years in public relations and development, while teaching at the College of Journalism and Communication at UF.
